Even though I have a yard and tons of space to garden I still like to incorporate container gardening into my landscape. When you add the right container to your garden it can not only be a focal point for the design it can allow you to grow plants you would normal not want to in the ground. There are many different reasons why people plant in containers it could be that you don't have enough land or space to plant where you live like in an apartment. You may also want to grow a plant that is know to spread taking of over your garden and become a nuisance. This can be the case with many plants like creeping charlie's, and thyme which can kill off your other plants by stealing nutrients from them. Now it is time to choose your container that you would like to plant your plants in. There are many different choices in sizes, and the type of material it is made out of. You can get decorative clay, glass or plastic containers all that really matters is that it has drainage holes in it for the water to come out of so you don't drowned your plant. Some containers you can get are very deep and with these you don't need to fill them completely with soil instead you can put Styrofoam in the bottom of the container. You would then put your plant in a smaller container and place that inside the larger pot this gives you the same design stand point. I like to do this because you are using less soil which makes it lighter if you have to move it as well. Once you have picked your pot you now need to pick where you would like to put it. When picking your location for your container it is the same as pick your location for any plant. You need to consider the light, the shade, and also the water. You don't want to put your container a spot that will get drenched by the water running of your roof. Now you need to decide what plants you would like to plant in your container. For me I am choosing a hibiscus tree, because if I planted it in the ground in that location it would grow to big next to the house. Planting trees in pots will limit their growth, this is because the roots have less space to grow. This can be a great benefit for some gardener who can only have a smaller trees. In addition to my hibiscus tree I a going to plant creeping thyme, and mint which I have planted before. The reason I am planting these on the bottom of the tree is because last time I planted these in my herb garden they took over!!! Once you have planted your planted your desire plants and blessed them so they may grow strong and bountiful. “My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece”
