At Imbolc we starting to see little signs of the warming of the Earth all around us, but at the same the Earth is still cold. We will be making a Candle Wheel to warm the Earth and hold the energy of Brighid s flame. This wheel can be used for multiple things from a ceremonial ritual headpiece, and a center piece. In most parts of the world the Earth is frozen, but the crops need to be planted for the coming months. In ancient times people would use candles or bonfires to warm the Earth before planting so that they were able to dig into the dirt. Lighting the fires did not just make it easier to plant it also changed the organic compound of the land making it more fruitful. Not only did the fire benefit their garden it also held a spiritual significance as well. The flame was a symbol of the Brighid, Goddess of the home, arts, and the eternal flame of wisdom and life. They saw the world around them frozen and dead, they would call upon the Goddess and her sacred flame to bring the land back to life. They would lit the fire on top of the snow and ice would melt away to bring life back to the land. The wheel base symbolizes the frozen Earth. While the battery powered taper candles represent the sacred flame of the Goddess Brighid. Brigid of the golden flame and fiery inspiration, I welcome you.

As a mom of three boys who go to public school I started to notice that some things were not being taught in detail so I decided to create lessons for them. Many of these lessons cover science, history and of information about Paganism. I share crafts for the all different holidays and cultures as ways that they can learn and have fun at the same time.
