It is important to honor each stage with some form of celebration. In the Maiden stage, it is important to not just teach your child what the menstrual cycle means but to honor it. Her “first blood” — is something sacred. You can choose to make it a family affair and invite the female members of your family. You can also invite several of her friends who've recently gotten their first periods. Celebrate the Maiden within Me Ritual It is best to hold the ritual in some place that is private and has a table. This table will be your altar space. Decorate it with all your maiden's favorite colors, objects, and candles. Have all the women gather around her holding hands. If alone open your hands out to welcome the supportive energy from the Goddess. Allow this time to reflect on what this new awakening means to you. Once you feel you have reflected then it is time to write down any fears you have about this upcoming stage. The other strong women around you can share the fears they had when they first got their period. This can allow some comfort to the maiden. Allow some time to reflect on those fears then it is time to burn it. Once the paper is fully burned it is time to discuss all the great things that come with this stage. You are maiden, you are now ready to explore this great world. Encourage her to reflect and write about these thoughts after the ritual. “Growing up is losing some illusions, in order to acquire others.”

As a mom of three boys who go to public school I started to notice that some things were not being taught in detail so I decided to create lessons for them. Many of these lessons cover science, history and of information about Paganism. I share crafts for the all different holidays and cultures as ways that they can learn and have fun at the same time.
