It's amazing to think about how big our Universe is and how old. The universe is almost 14 billion years old. Getting kids to enjoy learning about science can be a difficult task. Next to the Earth, there are seven other planets in our solar system. Understanding the solar system helps children know why the planet, Earth, is unique. This helps them understand the importance of keeping the planet safe and healthy. We are going to be taking a look a some of the creation stories. How did the universe begin? The scientific theory of the creation of the universe is called the big bang theory, Yes, the show's theme song is correct. The Big Bang theory follows back to a singular point. This point is when an atom continues to expand. This expansion was followed by cosmic temperature changes first a massive temperature drop. During this phase, the Universe grew much faster rate. Then, the Universe reheated to a point where elementary energy particles gradually decreased temperature to create the first protons and neutrons. These protons and neutrons combine to form hydrogen and helium-4 nuclei. These produced the first the earliest stars and electromagnetic radiation. Religion and science have been the best of enemies. One of the oldest religious theories of the creation of the Universe differs slightly. The Iroquois legend tells of a great island floating in the sky. This is where the Sky People lived a happy life. One day the Sky Woman realized she was giving birth to twins and her husband flew into a rage. Her husband tore out a light-giving tree. The Sky Woman peered through the hole, and her husband pushed her down, to the world below. Two birds caught her and carried her to other animals. These other animals created the land by bringing mud from below the sea. As the Sky Woman stepped onto that land she created the moon, sun, and stars. She gave birth to her twin sons. Sapling was the good son and Flint was the evil one. Sapling created all that is good in the world while Flint worked to destroy it. In the eventual battle between good and evil, Sapling emerged victorious but did not kill Flint. There are an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe. Our solar system is in a galaxy called the Milky Way. The Milky Way is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old. It is estimated that there are approximately 30 billion solar systems in the Milky Way. It is estimated that each galaxy contains billions of stars. Stars can be millions of miles away from us but their light reaches us still. Our solar system is home to eight planets. Every planet's environment is different. Some are small and rocky. While others are big and made of gases with no physical surface. Some are so hot that anything would melt. Some have moons, some have rings. While some are cold. “The universe is always speaking to us sending us little messages, causing coincidences and serendipities, reminding us to stop, to look around, to believe in something else, something more.”

As a mom of three boys who go to public school I started to notice that some things were not being taught in detail so I decided to create lessons for them. Many of these lessons cover science, history and of information about Paganism. I share crafts for the all different holidays and cultures as ways that they can learn and have fun at the same time.
