Tomorrow, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur. The solar eclipse will be visible for a narrow strip on the Pacific Ocean and the West Coast of America. During this time the world will turn dark as night. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun. This obscures the image of the Sun. It will also be the last major eclipse to cross North America for 20 years. The Moon does not have its own light. It shines because its surface reflects the Sun's rays. A lunar eclipse occurs when Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and blocks the Sun's rays from directly reaching the Moon. Lunar eclipses only happen at Full Moon. The word eclipse comes from the ancient Greek—ékleipsis, which means to fail or to abandon. There are between two and five solar eclipses every year. There are three kinds of solar eclipses: total, partial, and annular. There is also a rare hybrid that is a combination of an annular and a total eclipse. Unlike a total solar eclipse, the moon in an annular eclipse appears too small to cover the sun completely, leaving a ring of fire effect around the moon. The main states that will see the eclipse are Alaska, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. The eclipse is going to last 4 min 28 seconds. The moon is about 400 times smaller than the sun, but it is about 400 times closer to us. What other types of eclipses are there? Annular solar eclipses occur when the moon is farther from Earth and appears too small to completely cover the sun’s. It appears as a “ring of fire” in the sky. Partial solar eclipses happen when the Earth, the moon, and the sun are not completely aligned. This year the eclipses of 2024 will be 4. Look up at the sky at 3:35 PM EST the first eclipse of the year is going to occur. A solar eclipse is very powerful when it aligns with the New Moon. A solar eclipse is an opportunity to break old patterns and start fresh. This new moon uses the energy to fill your hopes and desires. This guided meditation will help you to prepare to welcome the transformation that this New Moon brings. Seeing a total solar eclipse is like nothing you’ve seen before. For those in the eclipse path, there will be a brief period of darkness for a few seconds or minutes. The sky will get dark at night during the day. Also, the temperature will drop, because the heat from the sun is blocked. Once over the sun will slowly peek out from behind the moon. It is very damaging to your eyes to look at an eclipse without protection. It can cause not just dots, and blurry vision, but permanent damage to your eyes. Comparing what you see during an eclipse to the darkness at night is like comparing an ocean to a teardrop.

As a mom of three boys who go to public school I started to notice that some things were not being taught in detail so I decided to create lessons for them. Many of these lessons cover science, history and of information about Paganism. I share crafts for the all different holidays and cultures as ways that they can learn and have fun at the same time.
