A Journey Into the Rivers Week 1 Day 3 of 3Our third class of Summer Nature Kids program is a continuation of the river lesson. We will be focusing the magickal aspects associated with water. I recommend first learning about what type of Deities reside over the element water. Then we will be taking a hike at our local state park and performing a blessing there. Remember this is an interactive lesson so let the kids take a moment and come up with some answers as you go. What direction do we honor Water in? Every element has a direction that we associate with it, and for water that direction is west. During a ritual we face in specific directions to call the elements into our magical circle which is why it is good to know which direction goes with which element. We use this direction to place our elemental altar candle, or any other representation of the element. When you think of Water what color do you think of? Every element has a color that we associate with it, and for water that color is blue. We think of the color of blue with water because of the color the ocean gives off. This color is actually just a reflection of the sky, because water has no color. ![]() What feeling or emotion do you think of when you think of water? When we think of water we think of calming, peace and our emotional subconscious. Our emotions like water can go from calm one moment to angry with a quick turn of the tide. When working with the water element you are working with the attracting the calming aspect in your emotions. What type of magical energy do you think water energy holds in it? If you think about the ocean you think of the amazing abyss that is the deep blue sea. We can only use our imagination to really see what lay below the surface especially since most of the ocean is yet to be explored. Water magick is the magick of the mind, which is why it is the go to when calling upon help for any psychic powers. What type of things do you think symbolize the element Water? Obliviously a cup of water would be a great representation, but there are many other things that also symbolize it as well. Also all creatures that live near water are great animal totems of this element; frog, turtle, dolphin, whale, otter, seal, and fish. Symbols of these can be placed on your altar or you can visualize them joining you in a ritual. What Gods or Goddess watch over the energy of Water? As a mom of three boys who go to public school I started to notice that some things were not being taught in detail so I decided to create lessons for them. Many of these lessons cover science, history and of information about Paganism. I share crafts for the all different holidays and cultures as ways that they can learn and have fun at the same time.
